Who Can Be a Tutor?

Our tutors come from all walks of life. They do not need to speak another language or have prior teaching experience. We provide 3 training sessions and offer ongoing support to our tutors.  Our tutors and students meet weekly in public locations throughout South County.

If you are interested in becoming a tutor, ask yourself these questions:

  • Have you graduated from high school?
  • Are you 18 years of age or older?
  • Do you have 1 1/2  to 2 hours a week to volunteer?  Do you think you can make this commitment for about a year?
  • Do you want to learn new skills?
  • Do you have the patience that it takes to help a student learn a new concept?
  • Would you like to get to know someone who may have a different background than you?
  • Do you want to make a difference in someone's life, and feel good about yourself at the same time?
  •  If you answered "yes" to these questions, please contact us. We will be happy to answer any questions you have and to show you how easy and rewarding it can be to become a LitNet tutor.
