LitNet’s 2024 Impact Report: “Strength in Partnership”

Dear Community,  

In 2024, LitNet had a far-reaching impact in Berkshire County. As you will see below, 749 people had a direct hand in shaping, delivering, or benefiting from LitNet programming. None of our achievements would have been possible without the loyal partnership of you, our beloved supporters.  

Our theme in 2024 was Strength in Partnership because it was a significant year of building new programming and expanding our reach. The development of our First-Gen College program and our Career Expo for the Immigrant Community wouldn’t have been possible without funders who believed in our mission. We opened a new satellite office in Pittsfield, in the new building of our sister organization, Volunteers in Medicine. We celebrated Five Years of the Keator Scholarship Program, and our 1:1 tutoring program remained the pulse of our organization, ever flourishing. 

LitNet began with the partnership of two women keen to make our community more literate one adult student at a time, each tutor-learner partnership we host remains the foundation of LitNet’s work today.

You are what allows LitNet to thrive on its many varied collaborations, and we are pleased to highlight what you’ve made possible in our first digital impact report. Thank you for teaming up with us to make our community the strong, vibrant, and welcoming place that it is.

Dear Friends,

We recently moved to The Berkshires and promptly became interested in connecting to a community doing valuable work in the region. As newly retired educators, we had been accustomed to being part of groups invested in and caring for human growth, learning, and development. In addition, together we experienced an increasing interest in the well-being and security of immigrants, and we decided the best way to do that was to “act local.” What better place to combine our interests than the Literacy Network where others are doing such fine work in supporting the engagement of eager learners and future citizens?

The environment that we live in demands wide-ranging assistance and advocacy for immigrant community members, so we are grateful to contribute our time, experience, and resources through LitNet. As lifelong educators, we know the power of learning to transform lives, which is why we are eager to support current and future learners—both as tutors and through financial giving. Our decision to give to the LitNet community is emblematic of our belief that diversity makes everybody among us stronger.

We enjoy the connection with other tutors and the talented and dedicated staff at LitNet. As tutors, we appreciate the rewards of seeing our learners gain valuable skills in English as we, too, continue to grow and to learn. Language is the key that opens doors to progress, and it is a privilege to partner with an organization whose mission makes that progress happen.
