Why LitNet's mission matters or why it resonates with me:

I am a passionate believer in the power of education to enhance the lives of individuals and to create a stable, lasting and equitable society with an informed citizenry. Having recently worked with immigrant families fleeing war and oppression, I am committed to LitNet’s mission and its promise to provide helping hands to those who endeavor to better their own and their family’s future and become an integral part of our America democracy.

Biography:

John Reynolds joined the LitNet Board in 2022 after retiring from a long career in the arts and business. Artist/craftsman, educator, entrepreneur, consultant and business manager are among the many labels attached to his bio for five decades. A graduate of Boston University’s Program in Artisanry, John earned his BFA in Metalsmithing and Design while also studying at the BU School of Management and The Harvard Extension School. In 1983, along with two partners, he co-founded Goldsmiths3 in Concord, MA, a fine jewelry boutique that specialized in bespoke, high end jewelry and metal objects. Upon selling his interest in G3 in 2007, John and his wife, Susan Vernier, relocated to Susan’s hometown, Portland, OR. There John took a senior position as Gallery Director at the Museum of Contemporary Craft. Returning to Massachusetts in 2010, he accepted the position as General Manager for McTeigue & McClelland in Great Barrington. Among past volunteer endeavors, John served for 15 years as the treasurer for Citizens Research & Environmental Watch, an environmental oversight organization that worked to enable EPA cleanup of a hazardous waste site in Concord. In 2021, he joined in the volunteer effort to facilitate the resettlement of Afghan families into the Berkshires subsequent to the fall of Kabul. Participating on the Board of the Literacy Network of the Berkshires is an honor and a privilege, and another opportunity to “give back” for a fortunate life.
