LitNet’s numbers remain strong. Despite the decline in new learners for a short period of time earlier this year due to increased ICE activity in our region, most of LitNet’s active learners have remained engaged in learning and feel safe in their tutor partnerships and with LitNet’s services. And, even though it continues to be an unsettling time for immigrants in Berkshire County and beyond, our new learner activity is on the rise, and we remain steadfast in our mission to partner with them to transform their lives and the lives of their families.

We continue to develop creative ways to serve our learners. In particular, our ideas for supplemental classes for learners enrolled in 1:1 tutoring keep snowballing; as we head into the fall, we’re excited to have a group of learners meeting regularly for a Book Club, a themed storytelling class is in the works, and a role-playing class is being created for high beginners to work on speaking English in real-life scenarios. These classes are a great way for learners to meet one another, practice conversation, and branch out into the community.

As always, we’re grateful to the LitNet community for your support and solidarity.
