Why LitNet's mission matters or why it resonates with me:
LitNet provides me a unique opportunity to pay forward the generosity of those who lent my immigrant grandparents a helping hand. Like that helping hand, LitNet generates positive ripple effects that benefit successive generations. Put simply, LitNet is to social-capital investing what compound interest is to financial investing.
Biography:
Eric has been a LitNet tutor for 12 years and a Board Member for 9 plus years. During his tenure, he has tutored 4 different students, served on numerous Board Committees, and he currently serves as Chair of our Nominating Committee. Eric grew up in Madison, NJ. He graduated from Lake Forest College, IL in 1974 with a BA in languages, where he received the MacPherson Prize for German (1974). He was a member of the National Romance Language Honor Society (Phi Sigma Iota). In 1975, Eric received his MA in German from Middlebury College and Johannes Gutenberg University, Mainz, Germany. He worked in corporate sales for 25 years. At age 47, he left the business world and became an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (Nurse Practitioner) receiving his BS and MS from Pace University, New York. He was inducted into the National Nursing Honor Society (Sigma Theta Tau) as an undergraduate and graduated Summa Cum Laude. Eric worked thereafter in a pediatric practice in CT until his retirement. Eric and his wife Wendy live in Lenox, MA.
