LitNet Honors Lee Bank and its English Learners at Annual Celebration

LitNet held its annual fundraiser at Barrington Hall on October 3 and honored Lee Bank for its partnership with the literacy nonprofit. The speeches came from two LitNet learners, Lina Barstow and Gleison Pena-Ariel, who both now work at Lee Bank and talked about building a life here after arriving from Colombia and Brazil, and their tutors spoke next. Dinner came from Amici Restaurant, run by fellow LitNet learner Octavio Nallin, and Alex Torres and his Latin Orchestra closed out the night with salsa. After 35 years, LitNet’s message is still simple: free education, no strings attached.
