Update for LitNet Tutors

LitNet Update for Tutors

March 2024

Hello LitNet Tutors (and prospective ones too!)

LitNet tutors are the heart and soul of our organization. We want to express our heaps of gratitude to our amazing corps of tutors for the generous contribution of your time and talent in supporting our wonderful LitNet learners. Without you, there would be no LitNet.

LitNet is an extremely active community! In 2023, we were able to partner with a total of 328 adult learners who came to us ready to open new doors.

We come out of the gates in 2024 serving 185+/- learners with 20 (and more coming daily!) on our learner waitlist. These are brave Berkshire County adults who are working to learn or improve their Englishto achieve a high school equivalency diploma, or to work toward their path to citizenship.

In 2023, we hit a record number of learners served simultaneously- over 200! It is impressive because it means over 160+/- tutors– volunteers from our own community, are willing to give their time to work with someone else in our community to open new doors. We do continue to host a waiting list of interested learners but fortunately, we continue to onboard new volunteers, so that no learner has had to wait too long to begin to transform their lives.

We are grateful to our tutors who have served as a LitNet tutor for many years, some for a few years or months, and some are even newer. In 2023, we were able to glean from new tutor intake forms that the most prevalent way new tutors learn about LitNet is through word of mouth from you, our tutor pool. This means, your testimonials about your experience matter, have an impact, and inspire others. Keep spreading the word! We always need new tutors….and who better to tutor with us than your friends, family, colleagues, or neighbors?

Keep your eyes out for LitNet events, meet-ups, trainings, and parties. We always love being in a room with you all whether there are 5 tutors or 150 of you! LitNet tutors are the best of the Berkshires for sure!

Thank you all for your part in transforming lives. We are so very grateful to our tutors. What would we be without you?

With a heart full of gratitude,

Leigh Doherty
Executive Director
