At LitNet, we partner with learners like Faittyane, whose story is featured below and who is one of many entrepreneurs enrolled with LitNet for English language tutoring. Through her partnership with her tutor Barbara, Faittyane has done more than improve her English: she was supported on her journey to become a licensed esthetician in Massachusetts and open her own salon, and now, she is working towards becoming a U.S. citizen. Faittyane is a role model for other LitNet learners, and we hope she will carry the torch as a presenter at our annual Career Expo for the Immigrant Community, informing others about her journey as an immigrant business owner.
At LitNet, we like to say, “English, and then what?” It is the question driving our Next Steps program. Through our various events and projects in Next Steps, we seek to serve:
- Immigrants looking to advance in the workforce who attend our annual Career Expo.
- First-generation college hopefuls, like those attending our campus visit to Williams College this weekend and like the high school student who was recently paired with a LitNet tutor who will be her support partner on her path through college applications and beyond.
- English language learners enrolled in our new Language of Hospitality class for beginner-level ESOL learners working in the hospitality industry.
LitNet is here to help people learn English. And when they do, we are also here to help them move forward on their paths, whatever that journey might entail.
Thank you for being a part of what we do.
