Literacy Network Helps Members of the Immigrant Community Get Into College

TheBerkshireEdge.com, December 8th 2023. The Literacy Network held a workshop on November 18th at Lee High School aimed at helping immigrant members of the Berkshire County community prepare for and apply to college, especially targeting first-generation students. Programs included bilingual guidance on filling out financial aid forms, managing time, writing application essays, and more. LitNet staffer Deisy Escobar shared her personal experiences as a first-generation college student to inspire workshop participants, emphasizing the “wonderful” opportunities college can provide. The goal was to help break down barriers Immigrant students face in accessing higher education.
