Earlier this month, we sent out our end-of-year appeal. The colorful foldout pages invite you to imagine not being able to do any given task you take for granted in your day-to-day life: asking for directions or talking to your child’s teacher, for example. Imagine suddenly finding yourself in an emergency situation and not being able to ask for help or being able to understand why everyone around you is suddenly alarmed.

Such feelings of confusion, isolation, and invisibility are common for many LitNet learners. Once they start to get a grasp on English, they feel the world come into clearer focus. With language, LitNet learners can dream big: they can strive for a promotion, buy a home in a neighborhood they love, become a citizen of their chosen country, vote in elections, or open a business. They can advocate for themselves and their loved ones, and they can access opportunities that allow them to thrive.

Moving to a new country and learning a new culture and language is an act of courage. LitNet is proud to guide our learners along each step of their journey, through each new opportunity that awaits. If you have already given to LitNet’s end-of-year appeal, THANK YOU. We can’t do what we do without your generous support.

Our dedicated tutors are the inspiration that keeps our learners going. YOU are what keeps LitNet going.
