We’re excited to announce that we will soon be opening a new space in Pittsfield, where now more than 60% of our learners reside. The LitNet Learning Center will have storefront visibility, be easily accessible, and have enough space to host tutoring, meetings, workshops, and LitNet’s growing offering of supplemental classes. A new space of our own in Pittsfield will make it easier to be open during evening hours and to provide a tutoring location for those who can only tutor after a normal workday—a time when public spaces are often closed.
In 2024, to meet the needs of our learners, LitNet opened a satellite office within Volunteers in Medicine (VIM) in Pittsfield. This satellite office has helped us to meet the growing demand for English language instruction in Pittsfield by offering a convenient location for prospective learners to come and meet LitNet staff, complete a language assessment, and get paired with a LitNet volunteer tutor. Almost two years on, LitNet is ready to grow again.
We are excited to announce that this expansion plan includes the hiring of a new position, a Bilingual Learner Liaison, who will help keep the LitNet team more closely connected to our 200+ enrolled learners. This new location will also help us recruit more tutors from Pittsfield and further north so that we may continue to meet the need.
